Who we are

Our Philosophy - Learning about the world through play!

Prospect Preschool is committed to play-based learning, with a focus on each child's individuality at the heart of our curriculum.

A play-based curriculum builds on a child’s natural motivation to PLAY.  Using play as a context for learning, children can explore, experiment, and solve problems in imaginative, fun and engaging ways.  A play-based approach involves both child-initiated and teacher-supported exploration and discovery, designed to encourage and expand their thinking.

With a thoughtfully designed program and carefully-selected classroom materials, our teachers use music, movement, art, and language to foster each student’s individuality while building their social, emotional, and creative skills.

Muddy and Messy

Outdoor play is a key part of our curriculum. We embrace every season, making the most of our beautiful playground, rain, snow, or shine. Dressed for the weather, the children play outside every day, exploring and discovering a love for nature. Our outdoor space features an expansive playground that includes play structures, mud kitchens, and bikes, offering endless opportunities for adventure. This means our children’s outdoor gear gets plenty of use and lots of love!

What does it mean to be part of a Co-operative Community?

At Prospect, co-operative means teachers and parents collaborating to create a welcoming, inspiring space for your child’s growth and learning.

  • Parent Involvement: Parents aren’t just observers; they’re welcomed participants. Being in the classroom gives you a sneak peek into your child’s first educational experience. Wondering what you’ll do? Whether it’s building with blocks, reading stories, or washing paintbrushes, you’ll be an active part of the classroom.

  • Shared Responsibilities: Each family chooses how to contribute to the Prospect community. Parents are asked to serve on the board or join a committee of their choice. Committees focus on social events, fundraising, and community outreach.

  • Educational Philosophy: Prospect follows a strong educational philosophy that emphasizes community and collaborative learning. We focus on a play-based curriculum where children learn through hands-on, interactive experiences.

  • Community Building: At Prospect, parents aren't just part of the school—they’re key to building a vibrant, close-knit community. By getting involved, parents connect with each other and their children’s classmates, helping to build a supportive network that strengthens the entire school.
